Racing to Return to Chelmsford City Racecourse Under New ARC Management

Racing is set to return to Chelmsford City Racecourse this November after Arena Racing Company (ARC) was confirmed as the venue’s new leaseholder and operator.

The first fixture under ARC’s management will take place on Monday 2 November 2026, marking the start of a new chapter for the Essex racecourse.

Chelmsford City Racecourse is one of the UK’s modern all-weather flat racing venues, with its distinctive left-handed oval track attracting racegoers from across Essex and beyond.

Six Fixtures Planned Before the End of 2026

The reopening meeting on 2 November will be followed by a further five fixtures before the end of the year.

Two additional race meetings are planned for November, with another three taking place in December.

A full fixture schedule for 2027 is expected to be announced in due course.

General admission tickets for the reopening meeting are due to go on sale soon.

Live Racing Returns to Sky Sports Racing

The return of racing at Chelmsford will also see the venue restored to national television coverage through Sky Sports Racing.

That will bring live action from the racecourse back to a wider audience across the UK.

New Management for Chelmsford City Racecourse

Arena Racing Company operates a number of racecourses and sporting venues across the UK and will now oversee Chelmsford City Racecourse.

The new management arrangement is expected to shape the future direction of the venue as racing resumes and the racecourse moves into its next phase of operation.

Further information about ARC and the new management structure has been published by Chelmsford City Racecourse in a dedicated FAQ section on its website.

For local racing fans, the biggest news is clear: after a period without fixtures, live racing will return to Chelmsford City Racecourse on 2 November 2026.
