I know it’s a budget hotel (debatable at £270 for three nights), but it really could still be clean. Our bath plug hole was full of someone else’s hair and the metal bin was corroded with holes in it. We had to keep the fan on because it was so hot at night.
The breakfast was nice and we had a nice staff member who helped us out with directions.
Location is in a walkable distance to the centre with ample shops and pubs nearby.

Firstly, every member of staff i have spoken to in the last 2 weeks have been amazing!
The hotter weather has shown though where the place falls down. It is horrendously hot in the rooms & no air con.
I have had some very poor sleep, it is simply uncomfortable.
No eateries less than a ten minute walk. And the prices in the restaurant are poor for serving size and food quality.
Location isn't great, edge of town. 20 minute walk to Crown Court.
Could be amazing but out of date & almost out of town.
Awesome staff though.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The rooms leaving something to be desired, not a bad size, just not overly clean. Found a few stray hairs in the bathroom. And quite a few marks on the carpets in the corridors.
Its worth paying the extra and just going to a Premier Inn.

If you accept the fact this is a bog standard travel lodge then you will have a great night! The rooms are basic; the bed, however, is comfy, good power on the shower, and the window opens enough to get a good breeze. I can't fault it, lots of the reviews I am seeing are marking it down, clearly think they booked the ritz! Plus the price £50 for the night is not bad considering other hotel prices in the area.

I recently stayed at Travelodge Chelmsford Park Way during a short trip, and overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The lodge offers excellent value for budget-conscious travelers, with clean and comfortable rooms that include all the essentials—soft beds, fresh linens, and reliable Wi-Fi. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
A special mention goes to Shelly at the front desk. She went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable, offering helpful local recommendations and assisting with a last-minute room change without hesitation. Her warm and professional attitude truly made a difference and added a personal touch to my visit.
One of the standout features was the location. Travelodge Chelmsford Park Way is conveniently situated near major roads and just a short drive from the town centre, making it ideal for exploring the area. Despite its proximity to the road, my room was quiet and peaceful—I had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep.
While the amenities are basic, they are well-maintained. The complimentary coffee in the lobby was a nice touch.
Overall, a clean, affordable, and welcoming stay—especially thanks to Shelly’s great service.
