Unfortunately, even after ordering a sample, the actual tiles we got were nothing like the sample or those in store. Store agreed with this and Neale in particular bent over backwards to find other batches of the tile (to no luck, but not his fault), eventually suggesting an alternative that was close to what we originally ordered, at no extra cost to us. So although we didn't get our #1 choice tile, cannot fault the customer service and would use them again. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Recommended a tiler by the name of Kenny Bond a friend of Neil that works in the Chelmsford branch.
Upon coming back one evening to check on the work that had been done we noticed that lights had been left on in the property and he had also flushed the toilet and left the flush mechanism jammed causing the water to be running continuously
As the work was done he became very pushy for the payment. He sent us multiple messages and was calling us asking us to pay the money. He finished the work on Thursday morning but we were both working so were only able to check the completed work on Thursday night. During this day were were subject to a bombardment of messages, emails and calls from Kenny asking for payment saying that we had agreed to pay on Thursday.
After inspecting the work on Thursday night, (which in hindsight probably was not the best time as we should have waited until the morning when there was more light). Plus with Kenny chasing us for the money, checked the work and paid the money.
When returning to the property at the next available time to look at the work in more detail we noticed more and more problems. Kenny had put down chipped tiles in the kitchen, the tiles were also uneven, the grout was inconsistent in colour and they were not even lain in a strait line. Upon checking the bathroom that he had half wall tiled to the ceiling he had chipped a about 5 tiles when taking of the metal banding that was previously in place and had just left the tiles on the wall and again the tiles were not even strait. He had also left a load of rubbish outside the house that he repeatedly said he would come and collect each day but this didn't happen until the week after.
Once we had taken pictures and properly investigated the work we got back in contact with Kenny to get him to come back and fix the problems he had created. This request was not received well and Kenny quoted us a 4 week wait for the work to be fixed. This is a noticeably longer time frame than the original quote to get the work done which happened strait away. We set a date with Kenny which was 20th October 2018 for him to come back and fix the problems. During this time the site manager came round to see how we were settling in and had a look at the work that had been done and recommended us a new tiler to sort it out, to which we accepted meaning Kenny wouldn't have to sort out the problems.
Because of this we sent him a message asking for a refund to which he replied that if that's what you want then okay, I will give you a refund when I am back from holiday. Once Kenny was back from holiday he blocked my number so I was unable to contact him.
Neil didn't really want to talk much about the situation, he said that the recommended tilers are nothing to do with CTD and he is not responsible for their work. After giving Neil the opportunity and enough time to get in contact with his friend Kenny he said that he had passed on the message and told Kenny to give us a refund. However we have not had any contact from Kenny since. Other than that Neil didn't really seem very bothered about it, he seemed very withdrawn and I wonder whether he was trying to protect his friend rather than help a paying customer deal with the problems they have experienced as a result of his recommendation. Its not as if we are asking for compensation. We are not even asking for a refund for the whole job as the flooring in the 3 bathrooms was fine. We are not being unreasonable we are only requesting a fair refund for the poor work that was completed.
So please be aware of Kenny Bond, his standard of work is incredibly poor and he charged us a lot for the privilege. As for CTD I know this is only one case but also please be aware that there is no support and little help from them after the work has been completed. Even if it has been done by one of their recommended tilers.
Because of the lack of communication from Kenny we are forced to take proceedings further and will seek legal advice.
