Not a great experience twice with the company, particularly through their free quote service. Lack of customer service , wouldn’t recommend if you are newbie like me. Didn’t talk me through the benefits of anything, just measured and showed a few samples, later found out it wasn’t even the type of flooring I was looking for. Really bad. Will say though I had support through Adam at the Colchester branch, who tried to rectify the situation, however I already had a bad taste in my mouth with the company. If you want good customer service, support and a nice product, go elsewhere.

In the past I have used Tapi for my carpets as the service is good and prices reasonable so I as very disappointed when I visited the store on 9th Feb 2025. I am currently refurbishing my house and will be carpeting eight rooms, a hallway and two stairs cases so obviously looking at a good price which historically Tapi have been able to do. So we looked at samples for the first of the rooms which was ready to lay and spoke to the salesman. I had primed myself with prices from two other carpet shops and the “We beat any price” tagline was not evident when I compared prices,laying per metre, lifting and disposing of my old carpet and small incidentals but what stood out was the attitude of the salesman, he was totally indifferent and was not at all interested in the sale, at that point he could have been half the price and I would have declined. So unfortunately this is one customer who will be purchasing elsewhere and I will continue with my carpeting refurbs with another company other than Tapi.

I don’t think I have ever met such a condescending sales person in my life.
He clearly had no interest. and was downright rude. Even when I said he was talking to me like my dad used to it he didn’t get it! (I am 50 years old)
Told me that I couldn’t have stripes running up the stairs and round a winder, despite me showing him a picture. (Below)
Also said they were busy and I’d be lucky to get it done within a month. Which he said was due to carpet right going broke, meaning tapi are now overrun with customers.
I got him to quote made an appointment for proper measurements taken, then cancelled and bought from city carpets in Chelmsford. They were cheaper, helpful and acted like they were more pleased to have my business.

Gary was absolutely brilliant and a pleasure to deal with! He was very knowledgable when it came to recommending our carpets, vinyl and laminate - and even more patient when we kept changing our minds on the styles!
Top notch customer service, and an overall good egg!

I went to Chelmsford Tapi after Carpet Right went belly up. I dealt with Melvyn, who provided very professional service. I also dealt with Richard, who was very helpful.
The fitters came today and were very polite, fast, and professional. There was not a mark on the walls or skirts after fitting
Highly recommend Tapi Chelmsford. I will be buying much more carpet from these guys/
