I recently took my 11-year-old son to this barbershop for a haircut. First impressions were great — the place is clean, spacious, and nicely set up with good lighting and a tidy display of products.
The barbers were friendly and took the time to ask what we wanted, which I really appreciated.
The downside at first was the price — £20 felt a bit steep for a kid’s haircut.
However, what really concerned me was the hygiene. Just before my son’s turn, another customer had finished his haircut. We were called over straight away, but I noticed the tools weren’t properly cleaned. The barber wiped the scissors and comb with a towel only after me asking for it, and when I asked about disinfectant spray, he said they didn’t have any spray as such, The trimmer wasn’t cleaned either, and he just carried on with the cut.
It’s a shame because the shop has a lot of potential, If they paid a bit more attention to hygiene and safety, I think it could be a fantastic place.

lovely place. Gentleman was fast and haircut looks great! sadly I forget his name even tho I asked for it 🤣 he had ginger hair! Will come back again!

I recently visited this barber for the first time with my two young sons, as their regular barber was fully booked. I requested a trim at the back and a nice scissor cut at the front. While they did listen to my instructions, both of my boys ended up with identical haircuts that were much too short and lacked any style. It was evident that working with scissors is not their strong suit.
My youngest son left with several scratches from an electric razor, including on his neck and ear. When my other son’s haircut was finished, the barber was ready to let him leave with wet hair — in November! I had to specifically ask him to dry my son’s hair. Throughout the visit, the barber didn’t speak to my son even once and immediately went outside for a smoke once he was done.
Overall, the experience was unpleasant, and both haircuts were poorly executed. I would not recommend Springfield barbers to anyone with young children or to anyone looking for a scissor cut, as they do not appear to be skilled in that area.

Best barbers in Essex. Joe, Tom & Fred have all cut mine and my sons hair, to an exceptional standard. Incredibly impressed and I’ve been to a fair few barbers over the years. Great people, great work. Highly recommended!!!!!
