As a Portuguese person, visiting Salsa today felt like going home. The moment we walked in, we were welcomed with such warmth and hospitality—it really made the whole experience great. The staff were friendly and attentive, and our waitress in particular was wonderful!
The food was absolutely fantastic. Everything was freshly cooked and tasted so authentic, it genuinely reminded me of the home-cooked meals I grew up with. From the tender meats to the perfectly grilled sardines, everything hit the spot.
If we had to offer any small suggestions, it would be great to see slightly larger portions of some items.. And maybe a little touch of Portuguese or Spanish music in the background would really set the vibe!
But all in all, Salsa delivered a great first experience—a place that made me feel truly at home. Muito obrigada to the entire team! We’ll definitely be back!
P.S. The owner owes me a shot of Ginja de Óbidos, which I was really looking forward to, but hey, there’s always next time!

Such a wonderful new addition to Chelmsford, food is fresh and authentic to Portugal, wine and sangria beautifully matches the food and the dessert is light and homely. Definitely try this new place! Thank you Carlos and staff for a wonderful accommodative evening and filling us with your traditional food and stories. Will definitely be back🫶🏼

Fantastic new addition to the Baddow Road food scene!!! My wife and I visited on Thursday lunchtime. Having recently opened in the last week. The restaurant has a nice terrace which will be perfect in the summer. We started with a pint of my first ever Portuguese super bock lager and it didn't disappoint. The food menu was extensive and there was so much to choose from, a mixture of mexican, Spanish and Portuguese. We started with bruschetta (tomato was really fresh and tasty), Gambas piri piri ( sauce was very good) bacon and cheese potato skins. Followed by chicken skewers, Portuguese chopped beef ( my favourite dish, quality lean beef in good sauce), Iberian style rice and the creamy mushrooms. Overall the food was amazing and the service was exceptional and our server was very attentive. Looking forward to our next visit which will definitely be an evening visit as really want to explore the wine list and more of the food menu.

We enjoyed our dinner in Salsa, celebrating my husband's birthday. The paella and tapas we ordered are sumptious and loved every bit of it. And the service is amazing. Would definitely recommend and come back next time.
