I have been using this Goldsmith Webb opticians for MANY years - as have family.
My mother-in-law first started using this optician when recommended by an eye specialist because of the complex prescription needed. That was many decades ago. My wife who also needed a complex prescription then started using this opticians and I, who didn't need a complex prescription, started using using Goldsmith Webb I think about 25+ years ago after some not so good experiences at other high street opticians.
I have to say that the care is exceptional. WOW! They have all the latest scanning and testing equipment that the opticians know how to use and analyse the results and so any problems with the eyes are quickly picked up. And, of course, there are the routine tests. A very good selection of frames available across different price ranges.
And everyone is so friendly and helpful.
The premises is tucked away beneath the Essex County Council offices immediately next door to the entrance to the library so not difficult to find.
Highly recommended.

I have been using this optician for over a year now, and I must say, the experience has been consistently exceptional. Helen on reception is very compassionate and understanding and incredibly helpful, arranging appointments to accommodate my busy schedule. Tony has an eye for detail and is very patient and supportive in assisting me to choose new frames. His ability to select frames that suit my face was remarkable, I left feeling confident and stylish. Nina explains every step of the eye examination, ensuring I understand everything about my eye health and her professionalism and dedication is evident. The whole team at this optician is simply amazing and I can not recommend them highly enough. If you’re looking for a place where you will be treated with kindness expertise and genuine care, look no further. This is the place to go!

Our family have been going to GSW for about 7 years and we were recommend by my mother-in-law who had been going for many years. They are so professional and really friendly and helpful. The optometrist Luke Knight is above excellent! He is highly skilled with very indepth eyes tests that are so accurate. He goes out if his way to ensure you prescription is absolutely right for you. They have very advanced eye scans, OCT the 3D eye scan that scans the back of your eye checking your eye health which is great! Luke makes you feel at ease with your eye test and encouraging when you can't see all the letters on the eye chart. Choosing and fitting glasses are Stuart, Daniel who I have seen mainly and again they are excellent! They are very friendly and helpful and do a great job to get them right. Even if they are really busy they can fit you in and they will do their very best to accommodate you. The ladies on the reception desk, always greet me by name each time I go there. I am always recommending them to friends. GSW offer top rate eye care! I should know since I have been to so many in the past in Chelmsford and in London and GSW is certainly the best. Thanks GSW!

I have been using Goldsmith Webb opticians in Chelmsford for three years having been a customer of a well known high street optician for over 30 years.
The customer service at Goldsmith Webb is superb. I have always been seen on time and have received excellent care throughout.
I cannot praise Luke enough for the thoroughness of his eye examinations and his attention to detail in getting the best prescription for your eyes.
The quality and range of frames and lenses on offer is excellent, whilst the service and advice from Stuart in finding the right frames and lenses has been first class.
He has just provided me with some Rodenstock biometric lenses. These are not cheap - and Rodenstock make some bold claims with their marketing - but I have to say that my vision with them is better than anything I have previously experienced - especially when driving at night.
I have also found the assistance provided by Helen and Tricia to be very helpful.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Goldsmith & Webb as a very good optician.
