Bakers of Danbury restored our weathered and mossy carved village sign in September 2024. The photos below show the faded, aged sign compared to the restored sign. The sign is now once again beautiful and vibrant welcome to our village. The work was carried out professionally and with minimum disruption in our small rural village. All residents have been admiring the sign and hopefully this work will ensure the sign lasts another 20+ years minimum before requiring maintenance.

We are very satisfied with the works to repair and retile Theydon Garnon Church roof which was a complex job and not always straight forward. Bakers were able to manage problems as they arose and deal with them, liaising effectively with the church architect

If you can get anyone else please do.
I was moved out when they did the works to my house.
The works they did have been disgusting and I have had an independent surveyor in who gave a bad report and recommended that the work be redone and they have ignored it .
Here's their quality work that they have done and the crack running up the centre of the wall after they plastered and painted they won't fill and paint over. The staircase is awful and was not done properly.
If I could give minus stars I would.

We were very happy with all the aspects of Bakers' work on the project. Communication over dates and timing was managed without a problem. The quality of their work was excellent, and the team on site were helpful and knowledgeable. Thaxted Parish Church, Essex.

Overall disappointed with the experience and would not recommend. Bakers operate at the premium end (their costs reflect this) but we did not receive a premium service. The guys on site during the 6 months were excellent (and we have no issue with them) but the overall management of the project (and subcontractors) was poor. The project overran by a month (when at one point it was 5 weeks ahead and not taking into account the time taken to resolve issues ), over ran on budget and the quality of what was handed back to us very disappointing. The heating system didn’t work (the core driver of the project) toilets didn’t work, showers didn’t work, sink leaked and the quality of the internal and external decoration was very disappointing. Also damage to the grass where vehicles had been parked not sorted. Whilst the heating / plumbing issues were resolved (mainly through us engaging directly with the subcontractor as this was less hassle than trying to work through Bakers) the decorating resolution has been poor. They’ve been in twice and we have now given up asking them to resolve the issues and will sort these ourselves. We’ve also given up on getting the grass areas repaired (some have been, some where missed). Final straw was the refusal to process the grant for the heat source pumps - not their problem apparently even though they were contracted to fit said pumps and in the initial meetings it was part of the service (if you do work with them ensure EVERYTHING is in the contract to avoid this type of issue on your project, I mistakenly took them at their word on this point).
Interestingly not one person from Bakers outside of the team we directly worked with has been in contact to see if we were happy / had any feedback. I suspect they believe their own hype and or aren’t interested in their customers experience….
