Who We Are
Farleigh Hospice is an independent charitable organisation providing specialist hospice care throughout mid Essex. Since opening its doors in 1982, the hospice has grown alongside the community it serves, expanding both its clinical services and community-based care.
Its multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals offers expert support tailored to each individual’s circumstances.
Who We Help
Farleigh Hospice supports people living with a wide range of life-limiting conditions, including:
Cancer
Neurological conditions
Chronic heart disease
Lung and respiratory illnesses
Renal (kidney) disease
Care is delivered both within the hospice’s Inpatient Unit and in people’s own homes.
The charity also provides essential support to families, carers, and individuals who are bereaved. Bereavement services are available to anyone in mid Essex, regardless of whether their loved one received care from Farleigh Hospice.
Referrals can be made by individuals, family members, or friends (with consent), as well as through GPs and other healthcare professionals. Care is tailored to individual needs, and people may be discharged and re-referred as their circumstances change.
How We Help
Farleigh Hospice focuses on helping people live as fully and comfortably as possible from diagnosis through to the end of life. All care is provided free of charge and addresses both physical symptoms and emotional wellbeing.
Support includes expert advice on symptom management, pain control, emotional support, and practical guidance. Around 80% of hospice care is delivered in the community and in patients’ homes, allowing people to remain in familiar surroundings whenever possible.
The hospice’s Inpatient Unit offers 24-hour care, including respite stays and end of life care, when required.
How We Are Funded
All Farleigh Hospice services are provided completely free to people across mid Essex.
Approximately 44% of the charity’s annual running costs are funded by the local NHS. The remaining funding relies on the generosity of the local community, including donations, fundraising, and volunteer support. It costs over £21,000 every day to continue delivering these vital services.
