About

Chelmsford Foodbank provides practical support to people in need across the local area, offering emergency food assistance in a welcoming and respectful environment plus onward signposting to help people move forward. The foodbank operates as a project of The River Church, Chelmsford, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers drawn from churches and communities across the region.


Food Distribution Centres are located in several areas of Chelmsford, making it easier for people to access support close to home. Visitors are welcome to attend any centre, regardless of where their food voucher was issued.


What to Expect When You Visit


Each Food Distribution Centre offers a friendly, non-judgemental space where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Volunteers are on hand to welcome you, listen, and offer support while your food parcel is prepared. Food is provided in standard plastic bags, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own bags if possible. Toiletries are also available whenever supplies allow.


Please note that a valid food voucher is required before visiting a Food Distribution Centre. Vouchers should be used within three days of being issued.
